The beginning

Flush with the success of the 2010 completion of the Thames Path, Gary, Ben and John decided to start the South West Coast Path in the spring of 2011. We did not do much by way of analysis of how long it would take us to do the 670 miles from Bournemouth to Minehead. Critically to the extent we did consider it, we divided 670 by 21, our average mileage on the Thames Path. 30 days or so that would be three years. Little did we realise the rather different nature of the terrain. We finally completed it in 44 1/2 days and then decided to carry on and walk round England.
